With The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Licensed Dram, Pernod Ricard presents another edition of the “Original Stories” series. Last year the company got off to a successful start with “The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Illicit Still”.

The Glenlivet Illicit Still was dedicated to the time when the Glenlivet Distillery was still operated in secret, while The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Licensed Dram is reminiscent of the acquisition of an official distilling license in 1824. Founder George Smith was a pioneer and set new standards for the whisky production. The old license has been included in the design of the packaging.

Alan Winchester, today‘s Master Distiller of The Glenlivet, says: “I've always been fascinated by the history of our distillery and the visionary spirit of George Smith. The original whisky, distilled in the early 1800s, set the standard for Speyside, so we are very excited to bring this new edition that honors that legacy. "

The Glenlivet 12 Year Old Licensed Dram is a First Fill Double Oak, the whisky for it was matured in first fill casks exclusively, made from American and European oak. In contrast to the classic Glenlivet 12 Year Old Double Oak with it’s 40% ABV, the Licensed Dram has an alcohol content of 48% ABV.

Regarding the taste profile, Pernod Ricard explains: “The fruity and floral style of Glenlivet is intensified by the first-fill casks and is characterized by aromas of golden honey and vanilla pudding, which are overlaid with hazelnut, while it has a long and slightly sweet finish."
